Stream media round the house wirelessly between devices
It is now possible to stream wirelessly movies and music around the house using a wireless network or a "powerline" network (where a set of adaptors use the power cables in the walls as a network cable).
Devices such as Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Sonos (plus many more) allow you to stream the media around the house. You can have the media coming from the PC or from a central storage unit where a PC does not need to be on.
